Nordic Network for Sustainable and Healthy Catering
This Nordic network shall contribute to an increased focus on the food service sector in the Nordic countries as an important arena for healthier and sounder food habits among consumers. Our aim is to be in the front of the coming developments in the European Union in these fields. The network includes 41 participant.
DIALREL (Encouraging Dialogue on Issues of Religious Slaughter)
The main objective of the project is to develop knowledge about the ways in which new digital, interactive Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) are used by consumers in everyday life. As a part of this objective we also wish to study users’ willingness to pay for ICT-services. We wish, in cooperation with three major Norwegian companies, to focus on certain types of adventure-oriented, commercial digital media. The companies involved are the following: Telenor ASA (a major Norwegian telecommunication provider); NRK (the national Norwegian public broadcaster); and Norsk Tipping (a major Norwegian betting company).
FoBoNet : socio-cultural perspectives on food, body and health
The Nordic network for research on socio-cultural perspectives on food, body and health (FoBoNet) is initiated by research colleagues of the Norwegian National Institute for Consumer Research (SIFO), University of Oslo, University of Copenhagen, Finnish National Consumer Research Centre (NCRC), Finnish National Public Health Institute (KTL) and Göteborg University.
The primary purpose of the network is to provide and establish joint research training and support research collaboration. The network will arrange PhD seminars/workshops, organize an international conference and provide a network website.
Using consumer concerns as the main criteria of assessment, the objective of the proposed Concerted Action is to provide recommendations to participants on the chain of production, distribution and consumption in regard to improving the safety and quality of certified organic food products.
The main idea behind this Support action is to develop a platform for deliberative processes on Nano-science and Nano-technology (NS&T) in the European consumer market. Nanotechnology products are now reaching the consumer markets within a large number of branches. During the last year, the number of consumer products using nanotechnology has more than doubled, from 212 to 475. Clothing and cosmetics top the inventory at 77 and 75 products, respectively.
ToolSust is a part of Key Action 4 "City of Tomorrow and Cultural Heritage" from the programme "Energy, Environment and Sustainable Development" within the Fifth Framework Programme of the EU.
The aims of this project are to develop the understanding and practices of supra-national institutions in relation to the enhancement of consumer trust in European food, and, to take account of institutional arrangements country by country, and in the EU. The study will consequently provide an important contribution to the steps outlined by the White Paper on Food Safety, the new European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) and the new European Food Law.
